BoomPop’s Q2 Offsite

Every quarter, our team at BoomPop comes together to connect in person, but there was a new reason for us to convene this quarter.

With many new hires joining the team, company goals increasing, and the pace of work becoming faster and faster, we knew we needed to collaborate in person. This way, we can focus, strategize, and work to maintain our culture as we strive for loftier and loftier goals.

We held our Q2 offsite at the Thompson San Antonio Riverwalk in San Antonio, Texas. It was the perfect place to align & strategize, and coming together helped us re-establish our culture as we scale our team.

One important part of maintaining company culture is making sure new team members feel included, which is why the welcome dinner at the Thompson was a crucial first impression for our new hires. During our welcome dinner, we recognized new hires for their contributions and welcomed them into the team. “As a new member, attending my first offsite was a game changer! There is something so special about traveling to a new place, getting to know your colleagues, and learning and growing with them in real time. I cannot think of a better resource for remote-first companies!,” said Senior Event Specialist, Alexia Ayala-Ramseur.

We were then able to segue into discussing the importance of team structure and culture as we grow. Having casual opportunities with the entire company to address mission and culture is always a great way to kick off an offsite, and helped with setting the tone for the rest of the trip.

Our time in San Antonio strung together a balance of Reflection, Work, and Play

Starting with a workshop by Blue Case Strategic Partners, we learned the essence of being a high-performance team. We did exercises involving active listening and empathy and really came together as a team. “I loved the team exercises because my favorite part of our BoomPop offsites is connecting with teammates - those I work with daily and those I don't interact with as often. BoomPop has an amazing community and being able to further collaborate when we are together makes the time spent so worth it!,“ said Event Manager, Cassidy Rappoport.

After learning more about ourselves and team members, we headed to Chicken N Pickle where we had some classic Tex-Mex, played games, and socialized. “It is really important to mix structured team-building activities with more casual ways to connect with team members,” said Revenue Operations Associate Ethan Dursht. “Having informal opportunities to bond and connect with colleagues was one of my favorite parts of the offsite. It allowed me to bond with them in a way that just isn’t possible in my day-to-day.”

To finish things off, we all got together for one last dinner and sang karaoke at Mad Dogs British Pub. Starting and ending our offsite with the celebration of the work we have done so far and generating excitement for the future has had very positive effects on our team. “Everyone feels so refreshed now that we are back from San Antonio!,” said Director of Operations, Sarah Smith. “All of our teams are collaborating more, are more productive, and more energized!”.

Offsites are the crux of what we do at BoomPop. Each offsite, we not only learn more about ourselves and our culture but also how we can provide the best possible experience to our customers. Every time we come together, we leave refreshed and recharged and have greater clarity surrounding how we can make your offsites into magical and memorable experiences.
